Take two - start of 2024 season

Second time lucky, the competition starts Saturday 13 April..

Same information applies from last week, although for our 11/2's and 12/3's the Umpire development programme starts tomorrow with observation week (don't know what that means) and after the holidays your games will have beginning umpires for 5 weeks.

It will be a busy day at Meadowbank as not only is it the official opening, one of ERNA's sponsors will be hosting a range of activities throughout the day - so good luck with parking.

Games tomorrow are:

Meadowbank

8.00am

9.30am

11.00am

2.00pm

3.30pm

Brush Farm

9.30am

Enjoy the day, then there is a two weekend break - next game is 4 May 2024.

2024 Competition Start - nearly there

Thank you to those who volunteered to be coaches, managers or the contacts for your team. Please check all your players are ready to play.

Some relevant competition information is here - 2024 Guidance for Teams

Patience is going to be your friend over the first few games as there have been lots of changes – changes to how the competition is structured, changes to how grades have been formed and changes to the playing rules. Remember - with the rule changes - the umpires are learning, as are players and spectators.

Full fixtures are on ERNA website. An abridged version of fixtures for only MBNC teams is available via the links below (as are the results). Click on the link, then select competition, then your team.

Hopefully, the forecast rain will stay away and we can get out there on Saturday and get the 2024 season underway.

Fixture Changes - Court 25

If you have downloaded fixtures and were expecting to play on court 25, you won’t be. It has a nice new sink-hole, rendering it unplayable!!  Please check the fixtures again to confirm new court allocations.  For the 9:30am timeslot, court 18 fixtures have also been impacted.

2024 Rules of Netball - Updates and Clarifications

A list of the rules effected are on our web page: 2024 Netball Rule Changes

Particular note should be taken of the 'Rolling Substitutions' process that will be applied for ERNA games. It is not the same as the new 'Tactical Changes' rule.

Resources, including explanatory videos, fact sheets and the complete Rules of Netball, can be found here: World Netball website. The rule book is also available as a free app through the relevant app stores.

MBNC will attempt to have players, coaches and managers briefed on the changes before the season starts. Keep an ear out for your opportunity.

Any queries should be directed to the Umpire Convener at bluebelles.umpiring@gmail.com.
